Ruth Chapter 4 Bible Study

Hey guys!! I hope you have enjoyed this Bible study on Ruth. I have enjoyed sharing what I have learned and am excited to dive into another book with y’all. Lets read through chapter four!!

This chapter is pretty short and just gets right to the point of Boaz finding the family redeemer asking for his permission to marry Ruth and then the do and conceive a son. Now they may be explained in a short chapter but what happens between Boaz and Ruth is not only a miracle for them but also sets up the rest of our lineage with David. So its very important and we also learn so many lessons in this chapter too.

RUTH CHAPTER 4

  • Ruth 4:1-5 Boaz finds the family redeemer and gathers ten elders to explain the situation about Ruth.
  • Ruth 4:6 the family redeemer says he cannot accept the offer because it would ruin his inheritance so he declines
  • Ruth 4:7-12 The removing and giving of a sandal was the binding contract in these days. So Boaz said that they are all witnesses and the elders and family redeemer blessed him and Ruth.
  • Ruth 4:13-17 Boaz marrys Ruth and conceive a son named Obed. The women praised God for blessing Naomi with a son and family redeemer. Obed was the father of Jesse who then had David.

I love that Boaz is so respectful. He is such a good example of a Godly man. I think often we get caught up in the appearance of men and what they have to offer us but honestly it should be their Godly character that makes them attractive. Ruth could have looked at Boaz and not been physically attracted to him because he was older or not as wealthy as another but she knew his character.

When Boaz and Ruth marry it is a sure sign that God can use even the most unlikely people to carry out His plan for the kingdom. Ruth was the least likely to be a Godly woman yet His reckless love find her and redeems her. From their marriage would come many strong rulers!! Never think you are “unlikely” to be the change God chooses to use for good. He can use anyone who is willing to submit their life to Him. When we choose to obey God and want His will for our lives He can work miracles and do great things through us!!

I hope you enjoyed this Bible study on Ruth!! I learned so many things about the type of woman I need to be and what type of man I need to marry. Thanks for reading and be sure to join me Wednesday for our new devotional on Instagram live at 6pm CST!! xoxo-A
