30A TRAVEL GUIDE THE ULTIMATE COUPLES EDITION

June 7, 2019

Hey guys!! We are back from 30A and I wanted to share with you our 30A Travel Guide Couples Edition!! This travel guide will be perfect for a couple wanting a romantic getaway to 30A but also families that are low key and want a little peace and quiet!

Before I tell you all of the wonderful places to explore in 30A I want to tell you about me and Jeff. We are a young couple (Im 30 next week and Jeff is 34) and we enjoy relaxing and eating. If we are on vacation we are by the water during the day and eating at night. We don’t care a thing about shopping or going out! So if you want a travel guide to the best beaches and food in 30A this travel guide is for you!! Now dont get me wrong I tend to get out and explore the town one day while Jeff is at the gym but other than that we love to just relax!! Now lets get into where you should stay in 30A!!

where to stay in 30A

THE POINTE 30A RESORTQUEST BY WYNDHAM VACATIONS

Jeff and I stayed at three different places during our stay in 30A. We tend to extend our vacations by a day (or three). The first place we stayed was the incredible luxury resort in Rosemary Beach, The Pointe 30A ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacations. We definitely wish we could have stayed at The Pointe the entire time. The modern style rooms are so beautiful and clean. They provide a washer and dryer and everything you need (full appliances etc) for your week long stay at the beach. You never would have to leave the property! The resort style pool offers  cabanas and there is an onsite restaurant Big Bad Breakfast which stays open until after happy hour! You can order drinks by the pool from their servers which we loved and not to mention they have the best ice!! Anyone else love small ice cubes?! LOL! Its also just a short walk to the beach. Our room was so nice and the patio overlooking the pool is so romantic!! There are Tesla charging stations too! Also building three is pet friendly!! You can view the room tour here.

The Pointe 30A has a vintage truck parked in the front! I had to get a few pics! So cute and reminds me of a truck we had on the farm! Linkning

We are working on Jeffs selfie skills lol! Hes not much on the camera but he sure is handsome!!

The pool was so nice!!

Getting ready at the island in the room. Each room had this mirror that was perfect for doing your makeup!! I bought this travel case on amazon for my makeup and loved it!!

Morning coffee on the patio!!

The Pointe 30A Pool. The water was so nice!! They also have fun floats for you to use! There is also a room for your man to watch sports on their big tvs or if you have a baby you need to feed its private!!

I love that there are umbrellas! I enjoy the sun but Florida is hot!! They also have towels for you to use! You really couldn’t ask for a better place to stay!!

Perfect large mirror and double vanities!! The bathroom was huge! We loved staying at the Pointe 30A!

The Pointe 30A has a gorgeous rooftop where you can grab a drink and watch the sunset!!

BIG THYME CARRIAGE HOUSE

Located directly behind the shops at Rosemary Beach Big Thyme is a house with an adjacent carriage house. You cannot beat this location! I got donuts from my favorite donut shop Five Daughters (Nashville is called Five Daughters Rosemary Beach is called The Daughters Kitchen they also have an airstream on Airstream Row in Seaside) twice!! It was so hard to not go everyday! I picked this carriage house because of the location and because it was under $1000 for the week! Such a steal! We booked through Vacasa for this vacation which was super easy! I had never heard of the company until I searched this year! I will definitely be using them again! We had a two car garage, grill, washer and dryer, private drive, full kitchen, and towels for the beach! The pools (there are four in Rosemary Beach which are community but require codes) and fitness center were included with our house so it was nice! There were a ton of kids at the Barbados pool and construction on the other beach side pool so we left and went to the beach which is a one block walk! Everything was in walking distance to our house and it was so beautiful! We loved it! I especially loved the porch where I uploaded all of our vlogs each day (you can watch what we did each day during our stay here) and had a snack while Jeff went to the fitness center which was 2 blocks away. You can also book the main house for Big Thyme if you have more than two guests. You can view the vlogs of our trip here.

Our porch at Big Thyme Carriage House!!

The porch had afternoon shade which was nice!!

The Villages of South walton

We dont have any photos from here but it was nice! Its only a few blocks from our Big Thyme carriage house and its a complex above some really awesome shops!! We ate breakfast and there was a lawn with all of the bikes you can rent in front! For under a $100 a night we were happy with it! It was clean and a great inexpensive place to extend our stay!

where to eat in 30A

Breakfast

We had breakfast most days at the Donut Hole. One morning we ate at Grits and Grind but it was nearly as good as the Donut Hole and more expensive!! Donut Hole was out favorite. There were only a few people in line when we went around 9:30 every morning!! They are also open for lunch and dinner which we didnt know until I was starving late one night and we drove by and they were open! They have the best fountain drinks and I loved everything I ordered so did Jeff!! I got a BLT most mornings but had their French toast the first morning on sourdough which I dont recommend! Just get normal toast and its better! Their biscuits are just as good as your memas and the kitchen and staff are clean which is very important to me!! If you go just get in line and wait until the hostess comes up to you. Theres no hostess stand to look for just stay in line and she will take you to your seat. It can be confusing the first time you go but its super quick table turnover! Big Bad Breakfast was also really good but very busy so be prepared for a 30 minute wait! We grabbed a seat at the bar and there wasn’t much AC so I recommend sitting outside by the fans! Its a gorgeous view of the Pointe 30A pool! Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing! I of course got a BLT! It was so good!!

LUNCH

When we arrived to 30A we were starving and had time before our room was ready so we went to Barbacoa! Its a Mexican grille where you can build your own tacos and bowls! We loved it!! We had a few lunches from things we bought at Publix. We went to The Hub one day and if you follow me on Instagram you already know how expensive Jeffs salad was!! It was so funny seeing his reaction (I posted the picture) to the guy telling him his salad was $19! I also got ice cream at Mr Freeze there and it was not that great and pretty expensive for one scoop. Its a great spot for a family or if you want to watch a sports game! They have food trucks, a bar, and mini walk up restaurants! Its all around a big projection screen tv and lawn area where they have music and entertainment! So fun at night! Another day I needed a snack around lunch and we walked to The Feed and Seed in Rosemary Beach which is the Cowgirl Kitchen’s store! Yall this country girl felt right at home!! They have the cutest gifts and decor and cans of rose and beer! Its basically a little market! I got the corn salad and it was so good! They also have other snacks and take home dinners! For another day we went to La Cream for a snack and had the hummus! It was delicious!! We had the vegetables and they were crisp and delicious!!

DINNER

There are so many places to eat dinner in 30A!! Im pretty confident in my abilities to find the best places to eat anywhere we go but in 30A everything seems to be good! I love to eat and Ill eat pretty much anything but Im also weirdly picky in the fact that I cant eat from places that look or feel dirty, they have to have good service or Ill leave, and of course the food has to be delicious. Oh and I also developed a shellfish allergy so I cant have a lot thats on the menus but I found great options regardless!! Jeff and I partnered with a few restaurants while we were there any the only one we couldn’t make it to was Restaurant Paradis. I was excited to experience their fine dining in Rosemary Beach but due to communication issues we didnt eat there.

I should also mention that Im not the biggest fan of fancy places. If it feels too rigid or stiff and like I cant relax or the waiters are too fancy I get so uncomfortable. Also if the menu is in a different language or the portions are the size of a quarter Im not eating there. All of the places we went were comfortable and very good!!

AMICI 30A ITALIAN KITCHEN

There is not a pizza Ive met that I didnt like!! Amici is so good!! We went there twice! Jeff got the pepperoni and I got the BBQ chicken pizza. They are cooked fresh and handmade in a Marsal pizza oven!! Their menu includes a variety of Italian dishes but we got the pizza every time because it was so good! If you wanted to eat at the restaurant it features a beautifully decorated patio with a fountain and the inside has family style seating along with an industrial bar that is amazing! You can sit along the windows of the pizza bar and watch them make the pizzas! Perfect for kids!! We didn’t feel like it was taken over by families though and we would still be able to have a romantic dinner together if we wanted to dine in! Im pretty sure the lady that helped us was the general manager or maybe the owner? She was so nice to us and very welcoming and we loved her! Amici is located in the 30 Avenue shopping center which was one of our favorite places to go eat! (We did not partner with this restaurant)

Surfing deer

Surfing Deer was our first dinner partnership in Seagrove. I would describe Surfing Deer as a whole lot of “surf” and a few “turfs”! The menu is focused on local seafood of 30A and intimately scattered through are options of “turf”. I was also pleased to see many gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options. I was very skeptical that it would be too fancy and I would leave starving but we were pleasantly surprised!! The decor is unbelievably beautiful! Jeff kept saying he felt like he was in Miami and all I could think of was how this would be the perfect spot for a couple to get engaged over dinner!! Its right on the 30A highway with views of the water and we sat outside which was perfect! Jeff ordered the filet and Im here to tell you (I grew up with black Angus cattle) its the best steak I have ever eaten! Cooked to perfection with a juicy inside and a crisp layer on the outside you could cut it with a fork! Jeffs filet was paired with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. I ordered the Jamaican Jerk Chicken and it was so good! My dish was paired with fried okra and plantains which were delicious! For desert we had a skillet chocolate chip cookie and lets just say there wasn’t a bite left!! I vlogged our dinner so be sure to watch to see what we got! I cannot recommend Surfing Deer enough! We loved our meal and the experience of the restaurant! The dress is upscale casual so wear cute sandals and a skirt or your favorite maxi dress! To view our vlog of dinner click here. (Thank you to Surfing Deer for partnering with us for our dinner!!)

Chiringo

We went to Chiringo for dinner the next night!! Chiringo is Spanish beach food located in Grayton Beach! If you love fresh ingredients and bold flavors you will love Chiringo! You can tell from the photos Chiringo is more of a come and stay a while restaurant. They have a shuttle that takes people to and from (no drinking and driving necessary) the restaurant and a gorgeous patio with games!! There are two bars downstairs and there are tables upstairs!! We ate upstairs and the view was absolutely gorgeous!! The sun sets right in front of you while you eat and its very romantic!! This is a great spot for date night or a family night! I ordered the Baja Tacos and black beans and Jeff made his own bowl!! For desert we had cake but it was frozen! So good!! Everything was so fresh and good!! We loved what we ordered and wished we could go back to order more! You can wear whatever you like to Chiringo! I wouldn’t do anything fancy and no heels! You can watch the vlog by clicking here.(Thank you to Chiringo for partnering with us for our meal!!)

30A BURGER

I dont have any photos of 30A burger but let me just tell you it didnt last long enough for me to even get one!! 30A Burger is located in 30 Avenue and a must when you travel there! Jeff had a burger and I had the chicken sandwich and oh my gosh was it good! I got it twice!! The first time we went I just ordered fries to eat with my pizza. The chicken sandwich has slaw and a bbq sauce on it and Im telling you just get it!! The fries are perfectly cooked each time and lightly salted. They are the shoestring fries and not one was burnt or crispy! My perfect fries!! They have malted shakes which Jeff was a huge fan of but I dont care for malt so I should have gotten the regular one. Jeff loved his burger! We both recommend this place!! (We did not partner with 30A Burger.)

SWEET TREATS

MARBLE SLAB CREAMERY

There are a ton of ice cream places around 30A and Im sure some that are better than Marble Slab but I just love their sweet cream ice cream with almonds and strawberries!! Nothing beats it and I love ice cream! Jeff loves their ice cream too! Its located in 30 Avenue so it was easy to get to and there was never a wait. You can sit outside and enjoy it too!! (We did not partner with Marble Slab Creamery.)

THE DAUGHTERS KITCHEN

So Nashville has a donut shop called Five Daughters (a must if youre in Nashville). So when we where going to 30A I knew they had an airstream and wanted to go! I searched for their location and found their The Daughters Kitchen right in Rosemary Beach! I got donuts twice which is really good if you ask me since it was two steps from our carriage house! I got the vanilla and the strawberry. They are my favorite and I love donuts! This location has other things besides donuts too but they close at four! (We did not partner with The Daughters Kitchen.)

WHAT TO DO IN 30A

There are tons of things to do in 30A but like I said before Jeff and I love to be by the water!! Most places have a pool if you rent a house or stay in a community. All of the places we stayed have access to the beach. We loved going to The Hub too for Jeff to watch his sports and mingle with other people.

beach

I am going to do a beach necessities video on my youtube channel but I think this year I really had everything we needed for the beach to be not only comfortable but I also saved us a ton of money! The Pointe 30A has beach access and the carriage house we stayed at does too! Most of the places in Rosemary beach and the Villages of South Walton have beach access. There is no beach like Rosemary Beach. The sunsets are incredible and the sand is the most beautiful of any beach. Jeff and I love this beach more than anywhere!

Pool

The Pointe 30A has a resort style pool with cabanas and umbrellas. Rosemary Beach has four community pools that require an access code. We liked the Rosemary Beach community pools but one was under construction and one was full of kids and it was loud. If you do have children they would love the pool. The Barbados pool was a block from the beach so we just left the pool and walked to the beach. The Villages of South Walton has four pools as well. We didnt stay long enough there to enjoy the pool.

The hub

The Hub is a venue located on 30A highway that has food trucks, live music, tons of tvs, and a bar! It is so fun! If we had more people with us this would be a great place to hang out and especially if they had kids with them! There are tons of places to eat and get drinks. We loved it! We went twice once to let Jeff get a salad (the $19 salad see photo) and watch a game and the next time we went at night and I got ice cream and he watched a game. We sat with another couple on one of the couches and watched it was fun! The salad Jeff got was from a bbq place and was so good! My ice cream was ok but not worth six dollars! Id rather have Marble Slab Creamery!!

RENT BIKES

The Villages of South Walton have a bike rental company that is out front and there are tons of bikes you can rent for the day! I think anywhere around 30A there are a ton of places that rent them!!
